Other notable tracks include Emeli Sande’s swing version of Crazy In Love, Bryan Ferry’s rework of Roxy Music’s Love Is The Drug and Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful, which is probably the one track that ably captures the whole essence and concept of the movie. Like the movie, this soundtrack is full of stylish ideas, with offerings by indie and hip-hop names such as Jay-Z, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, Fergie, Kanye West, The xx, Gotye and more. With its “harsh waltz” rhythm, White turns the rather soppy Achtung Baby track into a gritty, gut-wrenching number with a searing, slashing guitar solo to boot, and I daresay that he out-sings Bono on this one. Admittedly, I was first attracted to the soundtrack because of Jack White’s strident cover of U2’s Love Is Blindness.
